I am an avid runner and bicyclist and I love this watch. With the heart-rate monitor strapped to my chest (bulky, and embarrassing when running with your shirt off, but effective), it is the perfect way to track my progress. The watch is bulky, but it is not at all inhibiting and I’m never embarrassed to be seen running with it; and the large screen with its simple user interface is excellent during a run.
Unfortunately the software that comes with the watch, even with the latest updates, its retarded. It gives you a lovely graph, however the options are limited and not always useful. My greatest annoyance and what I think makes the software incredibly stupid is that it measure your speed in miles per hour. What runner or biker gives a crap how fast they were going in MPH??? Athletes measure their speed in MINUTES PER MILE. They don’t even give you an option to track this. As of this point I have absolutely no means of tracking how long it took me to get from one mile marker to the next. It is absolutely stupid.
The software is no longer buggy, however it is WAY too simplified and doesn’t give an athlete enough options in terms of visualization and data tracking. It has one graphing interface, and one way to view your data.
Fortunately you can upload your data to google earth and other 3rd party sites and see where you went and save yours routes overlapped on a satellite image of the earth; however I have yet to find a different program capable of displaying my workout data and for the love of god just telling me how long it took me to go a mile.

I received my Kindle just 8 days before a trip to Ecuador and found it the perfect travel companion. I used it to guide my trip choices (lodging, food, attractions, etc.) by downloading a couple of travel guides and it also helped me stay in touch with friends and family in the U.S. The internet feature is slow but invaluable when traveling. I was able to compose e-mails while traveling from village to village by bus, plane, or in the back of a pick-up truck and then send them as soon as a cell phone signal became available. Many placee we visited were off the beaten path and internet cafes were far and few between, so the Kindle kept us all in touch. Additionally, enroute to and once arriving in a new location, we would refer to the Lonely Planet guide and find the perfect place to stay or eat. Everyone agreed that we couldn’t possibly have had as good and trouble-free time as we did had it not been for the Kindle.

Generally, there shouldn’t be much to review about a book on CD. The story is good. The 3rd CD in this book however was warped beyond being able to listen to it. Sort of leaves one hanging!

I took an instant dislike to the title character, and the more I read, the less I liked him. It is easy to see the appeal to a certain age group: the kid is smart, he has resources, and he has his own private goon squad to sic on anyone who displeases him. The author has created a sociopathic little monster with the moral compass of a pit viper. Great role model for the younger set! Every once in a while, the author tries to insert something to make us like Artemis better. He loves his mommy – so have most of the serial killers in real life. Now and then he questions (sort of) what he is doing, then he goes ahead and does it anyways. His victims in the first book are the fairies, and I give the author credit for a nice take on the little people – I was rooting for them all the way. If it hadn’t been for this imaginative portrayal, I would have been looking for a way to give this book a negative star rating. The story is well written, which makes the subject matter even more appalling. I will not be purchasing any more books in the series.
