Case Copycat Snap and you
The Bottom Line:
Copycat earned some plaudits upon its release, but its a basically straightforward thriller that sits much more comfortably next to Kiss the Girls than Silence of the Lambs; by way of example, within 20 minutes any attentive viewer should be able to guess which extraneous character is doomed by the law of character economy.

I enjoyed this book, but I thought it was light on plot and character development. I purchased it based on the numerous 5-star ratings that it received from Amazon readers. I expected it to be more – did not dislike it, but wouldn’t recommend it to reader’s who want more from a book.

I purchased the 310XT for my wife and trained with it. I subsequently purchased the 305 for myself (for when we do races together). For the money it’s a solid unit and really has most of the usable funcionality of the 310XT. It’s just not as waterproof and does not have the wireless upload. Really plugging the USB into the computer is not a big deal for half the cost of the 310.

While this may be considered a literary classic, I never could get interested in the story or the characters. I finished it, but can’t say I enjoyed the read.

The nintendo wii is a breath of fresh air to the video game industry. In a world saturated with first person shooters, games geared for adult crowd, and an abundance of blood and gore, it is refreshing to have a game experience that you can have and not worry about whose head will be chopped off or how many kills you have. I love that the wii causes you to actually get off the couch and do something. You can actually work out while playing video games. Nintendo took the first step. Now it’s time for some good changes to the industry.

This is truly a wonderful camera case! The top has a molded hard shell to provide protection against bumps etc. It has a plush interior lining which provides great protection for whatever gadget one places in it, e.g. a digital camera, a camcorder, or even a GPS device. My family and I often take road trips which require packing in a compact and practical manner. Now I have a darling little camera case that allows me to carry both our digital cameras, the battery chargers and batteries.
There’s an interior slip pocket which may be used to hold memory cards or cables. There is also a belt loop (very practical) and shoulder strap which gives one different carrying options. The dimensions are 4.5 by 2.4 by 7.9 inches. An excellent camera or camcorder case that I can see lasting us a long time!

“I’m torn on this book, because, on one hand, I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would; it’s an entertaining, often humorous read, and the pacing is terrific. On the other hand, I couldn’t help but think Kathryn Stockett missed the point of her own book.
The book is set in the early 1960s, and told from the POV of three women, Skeeter, a young white woman writing a book called “The Help” about the lives of African American domestics; and Aibileen and Minny, two of those aforementioned domestics.
I don’t have a problem with a white woman writing in the voice of a black woman. As a woman writer I’ve written in the voices of men, and people of other races. I believe a writer can pull it off if she does it well, with compassion and knowledge. I did wince occasionally when the African American characters talked in thick “Lawd-ain’t-it-sure-enough-hot” dialect, but overlooked it since it didn’t rely on the dread phonetic spelling, and may be the author’s recollection of the period.
What’s more problematic for me is the question at the heart of this novel, which I perceived this way: is Skeeter, or is she not, exploiting the very women she enlists to help her write this book? Stockett doesn’t completely ignore the issue, but she gives it very short shrift indeed. A young maid, Gretchen, does confront Skeeter by calling her “Another white lady trying to make a dollar off of colored people.” But the matter is quickly dropped when Aibileen says that no, she’s not. Skeeter becomes less of a writer than a typist as the maids tell their own stories, publishes the book anonymously in order to protect the maids, shares the profits…and in the end the book’s publication is the impetus for transformation in the lives of all three women.
Still, it feels very much like Skeeter’s book. Her POV is the most nuanced, and the most similar to the author’s own life. (They both grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and both go off to NYC to become writers.) The scenes with Aibeleen a

I bought this on a whim without really knowing what it was about… and I am so thrilled I did. The story is completely absorbing and fascinating. The character development is excellent and you become engrossed in this page turner before you know it. While horrified by the historical references, I believe I got a better understanding of what it was like to be alive when racism was not only accepted but completely legal. You root for Aibileen, Minny and Skeeter through out the story for challenging and breaking down racial barriers. I am so annoyed with myself for not waiting to use this as my book club pick because I just know they would all enjoy it as much as I did.
